With fall in full swing, we took advantage of the weekend and opted to do some more exploring around town. First thing we did was go to the Ben & Jerry's Factory, which was hoppin! People are serious about their ice cream.
We also checked out two other places not shown below~the first being the Cabot annex (where you can sample pretty much every kind of cheese by Cabot.) The milk used by Cabot comes from many of the dairy farms in Vermont, with some of the farms being near my parent's house!
The 2nd place we visited was the Cold Hollow Cider House, where we got to watch the employees make fresh apple cider! I would also like to point out that the apples are not just thrown out once the juice is squeezed out of them; instead, the apples are donated to local farms. We also scooped up some fresh cider donuts, apple butter and fresh Vermont coffee while we were there.
Of course, no trip would be complete without visiting the local orchards & pumpkin patch!
We also grabbed lunch at Two Brothers Tavern, one of my favorite places to dine in Middlebury. Our nice waitress picked out 5 different samples of local beer for us to taste. We chowed down on tasty cheeseburgers, with the beef raised locally, the lettuce & tomato from a local farm and the cheese came from Cabot. Talk about keeping it local!
